How Many Exercises Should You Do?

According to the World Health Organization, the average adult (aged 18-64 years old) should do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity throughout the week. Alternatively, adults aged between 18 and 64 need to do at least 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity throughout the week.

But what counts as aerobic exercise? Running, swimming, cycling, hiking, walking, spinning, going on cardio machines, dancing, and kickboxing are all examples of aerobic exercises. Essentially, anything that gets your heart-rate up and makes you sweat is a type of aerobic exercise.

Other types of exercise include strength, flexibility, and balance. For example, if you engage in weight lifting at the gym, then this counts as a strengthening workout, or if you go to a yoga class then this counts as flexibility and balanced workout.

So, how can you make the most of your time exercising and boost your workouts?

1. Invest in Your Fitness

The best way to get more from your workouts is to invest in them. Dedicate time each day, or every other day, and create a schedule that you can stick to. If you know that one day you’ll be too tired to work out then don’t schedule too much of a workout that day.

You can also invest in your fitness by getting a gym membership. Or if you don’t want to go to the gym, then there’s a range of equipment that you can get for your home. For example, you could invest in a vibration plate to help improve your body’s blood circulation and to stimulate your muscles. You might also want to buy an exercise bike so you can work on your cardio.

2. Find Motivations to Help

Sometimes it can be difficult to motivate yourself to work out, so it’s very important that you find something that helps to motivate you and keeps you focused on your fitness.

Some people find that listening to music helps to motivate them to exercise. While other people find that exercising with friends and other people helps them stay on top of their exercise routine.

3. Know Your Limits

Don’t push yourself too hard during your workouts. If you’re just starting to work out again, then make sure you take it slow and build up your endurance.

If something is hurting you, stop doing it. You should also find out why it’s hurting. For example, if your feet hurt you might decide you need new running shoes, or if you’re at the gym you could ask a trainer if you’re using the equipment correctly.
