The next round of Social Security checks is scheduled to be distributed in early July.
Over the past 12 months, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) rose by 1.0% in May and by 8.6% overall.
Inflation has pushed up Social Security's cost-of-living increase to 5.9% for 2022, the largest increase in nearly 40 years.
This increase went into effect on Jan. 1 for Social Security beneficiaries and Dec. 30 for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries.

You will receive your payment on Wednesday, July 13 if your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of the month.
Your payment is distributed on Wednesday, July 20 if your birth date falls between the 11th and 20th.
Your payment will be distributed on Wednesday, July 27 if your birth date is between 21st and 31st.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) may be available if Social Security does not cover your basic living expenses.
Children and adults with disabilities (or blindness) who qualify for SSI receive monthly payments.
In addition to those 65 years and older with limited incomes and financial resources, SSI is available to them as well.
On July 1, you will receive both your Social Security and SSI payments if you received Social Security before May 1997.
CBS News reported that beneficiaries are likely to receive a COLA "closer to 8%" at the end of 2022 because of inflation.
Beneficiaries could see an additional payment of $132.64 per month in early 2023, raising the average check to about $1,790.
