According to the Social Security Administration, the cost-of-living adjustment for 2022 will be 5.9%.

An average cost-of-living adjustment of $92 will be added to the retirement benefit check to make it a monthly payment of $1,565.

Those living on fixed incomes need to be aware that the 5.9% increase may not cover all rising bills once they look at their household budgets.
